HTC announces the One SV, coming soon to the UK’s one and only 4G network

HTC has announced the One SV, a new 4G LTE phone headed for the EE network in the UK where it will help fill out the range of available hardware, which is currently dominated by high-end phones.

After the initial run of 4G capable devices were announced for the UK’s one and only 4G LTE network, everything has been quiet on the hardware front. This has all changed today with the announcement of the HTC One SV, a new 4G phone that has to be headed to EE, purely because it has nowhere else to go.

EE already sells the HTC One XL along with several other top-of-the-range 4G smartphones, but its mid-range is sadly lacking, with only the Lumia 820 and Huawei Ascend P1 LTE offering high speed data on a tight budget. The One SV will certainly help diversify EE’s range though.

It’s equipped with a 4.3-inch, 480 x 800 pixel resolution touchscreen boasting a pixel density of 216ppi, while a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor and 1GB of RAM powers the new device. Sadly, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is the standard operating system, complete with HTC Sense 4, with no word of an update to Android 4.1 in the future either.

HTC One SV Rear

There are two camera lenses, a 5-megapixel on the rear and a 1.6-megapixel on the front, the latter of which gets the same HTC ImageChip found on the One X+ to give those self-portraits a boost. The One SV has a total of 8GB internal storage memory, but there is a microSD card slot to increase this. Other features include Beats Audio, Bluetooth 4.0, an 1800mAh battery and 1080p video recording.

The One SV sits slightly below the One S in HTC’s range, and is more inline with the Desire SV, which retains the 8-megapixel camera from the One S, but has a 1GHz processor instead. Set to be available in either blue or white, no price or exact release date for the One SV has been provided by HTC, and EE has so far kept quiet too, but we can expect more details in the coming weeks.
