PC gamers report Call Of Duty: Black Ops II disc issues linked to stray Mass Effect 2 code

Black Ops 2

Message boards are beginning to hum with reports from PC gamers that their Call Of Duty: Black Ops II discs won't work, apparently due to code from the 2010 sci-fi game Mass Effect 2.

Copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops II are flying off the shelves, but according to a growing number of reports popping up online, some PC players have made a disappointing discovery when they tried to install the game.

On both the official Call of Duty and Steam forums (as well as Reddit), gamers are complaining about their new Black Ops II discs failing to install due to the second disc containing what appears to be the code for Electronic Arts’ 2010 sci-fi role-playing game Mass Effect 2. Both EA and Black Ops II publisher Activision have yet to comment on the issue, which likely stems from a mistake made on the production line.

Members of the various message boards where reports of the problem have popped up are advising anyone who has the Black Ops II/Mass Effect 2 issue to download the game from Steam using the PC codes provided until an alternate solution is presented by Activision.

We’ll update this story as more information becomes available. Check back later today for our full review of  Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
