Irrational Games pushes the release of BioShock Infinite back to March 26,. 2013.
A month-long delay will push the previously scheduled February 26, 2013 release of BioShock Infinite back to March 26, 2013, as Irrational Games’ Ken Levine confirmed earlier this week. The recommendation apparently came from former Epic Games guy Rod Fergusson shortly after he joined the BioShock team in August. The extra month will be used to polish up Infinite and make absolutely sure that everything is in working order.
Levine revealed the news in his opening remarks at a BioShock Infinite preview event that was held in Los Angeles, California this week. It was the media’s first hands-on crack at the game, serving up roughly two hours of play starting from the very beginning. I’ll be bringing you more detailed impressions later today, but here’s the gist: it’s pretty kickass. The floating paradise of Columbia may seem like a big step away from Andrew Ryan’s failed utopia from the original BioShock, but the DNA of that earlier game runs strongly through Infinite.
Stay tuned for more details soon, but rest easy for now in the knowledge that the added wait will be worth it.
